Microgrids for Critical Infrastructure
5 of the first 7 Microgrid Projects in the State of California Permitted Through HCAI/OSHPD.
Challenge
- Decrease in Utility grid reliability and power quality
- Increases in number and severity of natural disasters
- Ever increasing cost of energy
- Urgent need to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels
Solution
- Net Zero Microgrid utilizing the Utility Grid as a parallel or back up source.
- Increase system resiliency
- Insulate the system form Natural Disasters with a multimode solution
- Decrease Energy costs/provide more predicable long term costs
- Decrease dependence on fossil fuels.
Tanner Engineering has coalesced our extensive experience with Photovoltaic systems, Battery Storage, Fuel cells, and CHP systems to design five of the first OSHPD Health care microgrids permitted in the state. These first projects are CHP/PV-based to supplement the normal power system and with the ability to “island” the system during utility outages.
