South Bay Post Acute Care
South Bay Post Acute Care
Chula Vista – San Diego, CA
As one of the earliest medical facilities in Chula Vista, CA, built in the early 1900’s, this facility had weathered many additions, modifications, equipment upgrades, remodels, etc. and the electrical system had been stretched to accommodate all those changes. To continue to meet the needs of the staff and patients, the facility required an electrical distribution system upgrade to ensure that the electrical system would not fail, including a new Essential Electrical System.
The existing system was long past it’s life expectancy, was undocumented, and did not meet current codes, so the system needed to be entirely redesigned. Tanner Engineering did extensive field work to trace out the existing system and designed a new electrical distribution system that will serve the facility for the next 100 years. As part of the upgrade a new emergency system was installed that will back-up the entire facility in the event of a power outage. Since the only location for the new larger generator was near the property line it was installed with an enhanced sound attenuation enclosure to minimize the impact on the residents and neighbors.
Tanner also participated in other projects at the facility upgrading nurse stations and corridor lighting.
